To All Members,

Welcome back from holidays to everyone, I hope that the summer treated you well and that you are preparing for an awesome autumn.  Our Executive will be meeting as a group on Monday September 13th at 6:30 p.m. at the Newcastle Town Hall; this will be our first official meeting since our June meeting and, as always Chamber members are welcome to attend.  We are always looking for input from the membership on what type of events and training would benefit you and your business and we ask that you consider getting involved with your local Chamber.

I would like to inform all members that Gord Robinson, our Local Ward 4 Councillor has decided to run for Regional Councillor for Wards 3-4.  After careful consideration and many discussions, I decided to run for the position of Local Councillor for Ward 4 to replace Gord.  It is important that you know I made the Chamber Executive aware of my consideration and my final decision to run. If any issues arise that may be considered a conflict of interest, Greg Lewis our Chamber Vice President will step in and I will excuse myself from the proceedings.   Should you have any questions, feel free to contact any member of the Chamber Executive Board.  Please feel free to contact me with regards to questions or for additional information.

The September Networking is scheduled for the last Monday of the month and the guest speaker will be from Business Development Corporation. Stay tuned for more details.

In June we had two great events including our annual TRADE SHOW that garnered rave reviews and a more relaxed networking event hosted by Boston Pizza. A special thanks to Boston Pizza for the excellent food, everyone in attendance had a great time.

A special thanks to everyone who filled out our online marketing survey over the summer, from this your Executive will be able to chart a course of success for both the member and Chamber.

The Fall Festival is approaching and it looks like it will be another great event. This will take place on the first weekend in October. There will Midway rides Friday evening and Saturday. The street will be closed on Saturday all day. The day begins with The Running Maniacs and the Lions Dog Walk. There will also be a special dinner event on Saturday night. For additional information on the dinner please contact Karen Bastas of Massey House or Jane Black, the Public Relations Director for the Chamber. More details will follow. Volunteers and sponsors would be welcome.
Remember to take advantage of our SPOT LIGHT ON BUSINESS on the Chamber web site – FREE ADVERTISING.

We will update you with information as we move forward.  Please forward your ideas to us.  I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events and around the community.

Sincerely,
Dean Perrin
President, Newcastle and District Chamber of Commerce
