Durham Region is home to an incredible and diverse network of shops, restaurants, experiences, and services. For that reason, the Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade, Clarington Board of Trade, and Whitby Chamber of Commerce are proud to announce our 2021 shop local campaign, “Shop Where You Live.”
You are invited to take a stroll down Main Street and beyond, meet the neighbours that support the economic backbone of our community, and to experience something new or an old favourite. Use the hashtag #ShopInDurham to share purchases and Instagram-worthy meals.
In the coming weeks, you can expect to hear “Shop Where You Live” messaging on local media and we will be sending our street teams to a downtown near you with promotional bags and materials.
The Regional Municipality of Durham is helping to support the campaign by proclaiming November 28 to December 4 “Shop in Durham Week”. They have also launched ShopInDurham.ca, a great resource for links to local Boards of Trade and Chambers, local downtown websites and tips on supporting the campaign.
The Brock Board of Trade, Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce, Newcastle and District Chamber of Commerce, Scugog Chamber of Commerce, Uxbridge Chamber of Commerce, the local BIAs, and all eight area municipalities are invited to leverage the hashtag #ShopInDurham to spread the word.
